Ethan stared at the phone in his hand.

The photo showed Olivia—his fiancée—standing outside a small apartment building late at night.

But she wasn’t alone.

Beside her was Ethan’s older brother, Daniel.

And Olivia was handing him an envelope thick with cash.

“That’s fake!” Olivia screamed. “Someone edited it!”

The maid, Rosa, went pale.

“No, sir,” she whispered. “She made me take those pictures.”

The room went silent.

Ethan slowly looked at her.

“Why?”

Rosa’s hands trembled.

“Because she wanted proof that your brother accepted the money.”

Olivia rushed forward. “Don’t listen to her!”

But Rosa continued.

“She told Daniel she would pay him to disappear before the wedding. She said you trusted him too much… and as long as he was around, you might discover the truth.”

Ethan’s expression hardened.

“What truth?”

Rosa unlocked her phone and opened another photo.

This one showed Olivia sitting inside Ethan’s study while he was away on a business trip.

On the desk were confidential company documents.

Across from her sat a man Ethan immediately recognized.

Victor Hale.

The owner of his company’s biggest competitor.

Ethan stopped breathing for a moment.

Olivia’s face lost all color.

“You were selling him information?”

“No!” she shouted. “Ethan, please—”

Rosa shook her head.

“She discovered I saw them together. She forced me to photograph the meeting because she wanted something she could use against Mr. Hale later.”

Then Rosa opened an audio recording.

Olivia’s voice filled the room.

“If Ethan ever finds out, Daniel takes the blame. I already made sure of that.”

Ethan looked at his fiancée as if he were seeing a stranger.

Olivia began crying.

“I can explain.”

“You had months to explain.”

He removed the engagement ring from the table where Olivia had placed it earlier and quietly pushed it toward her.

“The wedding is canceled.”

Olivia froze.

Then Ethan turned to Rosa.

“And my brother?”

Rosa gave a small smile.

“He never took her money.”

She opened the final picture.

Daniel had left the envelope untouched on the steps.

He had only met Olivia because he already suspected she was hiding something—and had been trying to protect Ethan.

Twenty minutes later, Daniel walked through the front door.

Ethan didn’t ask questions.

He simply crossed the room and hugged his brother.

Behind them, Olivia stood completely silent.

She had spent months building the perfect lie.

And all it took to destroy it…

was one maid dropping her phone.
